The Headless Horseman by Logan S

In the very heart of Finland Forest, under the starlit sky where Finnish children used to play and the adults used to be working hard Alex and his Dad called Nagol have their colourful tents and their peaceful burning fire, singing campfire songs to the sound of Nagol’s guitar.

But there is a legend that Alex and Nagol are not aware of. Deeper into the forest is a house made from a giant pumpkin, with burning candles in the window and lots of bare, crooked trees swooping around it. There are always three on the roof squawking out the dark, jet-black sky. Here lives The Headless Horseman!

Stories tell us that he has a black leather cloak, with a green inside and a pumpkin for a head. He goes around with his shiny, blood covered, sharp axe chopping peoples heads of for lunch. Apparently he rides a black horse faster than the fastest cars. Alex and Nagol don’t know what to expect.

The Monster by Laura

Long ago before dinosaurs were alive there was a lovely quiet continent called Africa.
All though Africa is a very nice and peaceful continent it was once struck by poverty.
Even through Africa didn’t have much people, shops or towns the people there were very light hearted. The children there were generally lively and mostly always out.
Quickly thunder came over the land suddenly a massive creature came. Everyone screamed worryingly. Terrifyingly he picked up a few children. In his mouth they went as everyone could hear them screaming and desperately wanting to get out.

Magasaur by Emma M

Long Long ago at the seaside carnival in the city of Unismick. Under the little rides it had the biggest ride in the world and it gets better it used to be a Magasuar (it’s a half flying and half water animal) in the year 1311.

It as so much fun watching and listening to the kids running, laughing, screaming and playing on the rides. Most families were very pleasant and joyful. This one little boy on the ride ten times and got so sick he had to go back home. The ride has five loop the loops and when it finishes it finishes with BANG!!!!! (Probably because it’s so old) So many people crammed into the small carnival park from all over the country to celebrate the 696th anniversary.

Then that day the sky turned back and all that you could hear was ball the people screaming of the crowd, running for their lives THE RIDE HAS COME ALIVE AHHHHH!!!!! yelled the crowd. A car pulled up and someone jumped out. Everyone stopped and looked “who’s that?” the crowd discussed between themselves.

Sapphire and the Snake by Hannah

A long time ago, on an island just off the coast of Spain there was an old castle that over looked the village of Monia.
In that castle lived a beautiful princess called Sapphire. She had long, straight brown hair and she looked after the village very well. The villagers were very pleasant and everyone loved Sapphire.
But one day the sky turned black and a giant snake slithered into Monia and wrapped itself around the castle and trapped Sapphire inside. The villagers were petrified and the gossip spread all over Spain, Italy and France.
Now the King of Spain was Sapphires father and he was outraged when he found out about this so he set a challenge he said, ‘who ever can free Sapphire and kill this horrible beast can have her hand in marriage.’
The prince of France heard about this challenge and he set off to Monia and he tried to kill the snake but he did not succeed . So the prince of Canada tried to save poor Sapphire but he too did not succeed. At last the prince of Italy tried and he was full of courage and bravery and he cut the beast in half and saved Sapphire and like the King said he got her hand in marriage. The River Monster by Sarah

Long, long ago on the hills of Glencoe, before the houses were built a legend was created.
The hills stood tall and proud so high their tips were in the clouds. On one side of the hills there were fields and fields of luscious green grass but this story’s not set there, its set in the village on the other side of the hill, called Ballahullish.
The village was a small village with only a farm, one or two shops and a few scattered houses.
The people in Ballahullish weren’t poor nor rich and were all good friends. The village was a happy village until the River Monster came.
There was a river that wove in and out between the houses in Ballahullish and that’s where the monster lived. It went around gobbling up the people in the village but they were still alive in the monster’s tummy. When you were lying in your bed you could hear the eaten people’s cries for help echoing around the village.

Write The Opening For A Legend - By Ellie :-)

WALT – write the opening for a legend
Eille-Tlek
A long time ago in a peaceful and small village, where everyone knew each other, it was just a normal and enjoyable day in the village. The village was on a hill top, so to get to the local supermarket, you had to walk down the hill (it was to steep for cars and bikes), then you had to get a boat and sail for about half an hour.

There were two girls called Rennie and Jessica, and they were aged 9 and 10. They were the best of friends and most of the time their mums and dads said they were closer than sisters!

One day the two girls decided to go to the local newsagents which is just across the road from the super market and they both knew the route backwards, forwards and probably even side-ways!!! They had an idea to go to the newsagents to get a magazine, juice and crisps and sweets, so off they went, down the long, long and very steep hill (by the time they actually got there, their legs were really tired!!!) Then it was time to go on the boat ... but it was too choppy to sail but none of them noticed this. They went onwards with their adventure. There was something on the water when Rennie and Jessica dipped their feet in to cool off. A big long type of devil / mermaid / dog / fish (a bit of everything really!) Then it came out from the water...
It rose up like the spirits rising from the dead. The girls were screaming wildly as the boat was rocking from side to side like you would do with a baby but in fast-forward ! As the sea monster rose, the girls were screaming and crying, "SILENCEEEEEEEEE!" roared the thing... as it rose from the deep blue sea. There was the sound of the monster shouting, the girls crying, the waves crashing and the thunder.
There was a flicker of hope as the girls, Rennie and Jessica saw another boat rowing towards them, but then the hope died. It had gone in the opposite direction. They were screaming but it was no use. They were gone.
But no ! They were behind the monster thing and they were about to throw their fishing net over it ! The man had a finger to his lips.... he was telling them to be quiet and stop screaming. They threw the net over the monster, it was trying to fight back but it was too tangled up in the net.
"YESSSSSSSSS!!!" screamed Rennie and Jessica as they hugged each other. The men anchored their boat down next to Rennie and Jessica's. The girls couldn't thank them enough. The men (they were called Shaun and David) and they were made princes. After all that fuss, the lived through their fear of going back into the sea. After that, they got on with life and told the tale to their families.

The Crocodile Rock By Caitlin

The Crocodile Rock
Years Ago Millport, it was just a normal day. People going past on bikes, people having ice-cream. Just an ordinary day.

Kirsty aged five was down in Millport for a day with her two younger sisters Becky and Rachael. Kirsty was bored out of her skull unlike her sisters she was not having fun. So she decided to go for a wander down to the crocodile rock! As her mum and sisters went bonkers, she was sitting quite the thing on the crocodile rock!

Then suddenly the tide came in, she was stranded. All of a sudden she felt herself rise. It was the crocodile rock, it had come alive!

Rachael and Becky could see Kirsty. So they went to get their mum. Jackie came, jumped over the railing onto the crocodile rock. The sisters where happier now but only for a little while because the crocodile rock started moving back and back until it was out of sight! Then the rock had a huge yawn, Kirsty was terrified. Then the rock started sinking.....

All the crowed were gob-smacked! Becky and Rachael were screaming with fear and terror whilst everyone else was running about looking for help.

The Garrison doors flew open and John came out. Even though he only owned the Garrison he had muscles like a wrestler! He said " Have no fear, I will help. Go into your houses and dont come out until I walk past your home!"

The next day when the tide was out, John could see the rock, lying in the harbour as well as Jackie and Kirsty! (Becky and Rachael stayed with John the night Jackie and Kirsty went missing.) John then reunided Jackie and Kirsty with their family. Then John through the biggest rock he could see at the crocodile and it froze, back to the normal rock! Eveyone was ever so happy now!

Despite everything that had happened that week, when they left they had a smile on their face and Millport was back to the quite little island!
